You Have Choices!

In addition to neighborhood schools, which offer challenging coursework with electives to enhance students’ learning experience, Highline also offers Choice Schools. Choice Schools offer a variety of alternative program options, each with a specialized focus to meet student interest and need.

Schools of Choice require an application. The application window for the 2023-24 school year closes January 31 at 11:00 p.m. Learn more about our Schools of Choice, including the enrollment process and timeline.

Middle Schools of Choice Information Nights

CHOICE Academy | Grades 6-12

CHOICE Academy provides a small, welcoming learning environment with rigorous and relevant curriculum in a family-style school setting. The school offers traditional instruction in the morning with opportunities for off-site, independently-developed electives in the afternoon.

  • Tuesday, January 10, 6:00 p.m.
  • CHOICE Academy: 18367 8th Avenue South

Highline Virtual Academy | Grades 6-12

The Highline Virtual Academy is a flexible learning model that provides opportunities for a blend of self-paced learning and school-directed structures. It is an all remote school. Students who thrive in independent, online learning are good candidates. Staff build relationships and engage students in social-emotional support with students with one-on-one experiences.

Big Picture Schools | Grades 6-12

Big Picture starts with your interests and builds the curriculum around that. You’ll create your own individualized learning plan. Most of your learning will happen through projects. You’ll work closely with a small advisory group that stays together multiple years, and two days a week you’ll pursue internships in real world settings related to your interests.

  • Monday, January 30, 6:00 p.m.
  • Big Picture Cafeteria: 440 South 186th Street
