Last fall, our school community came together to choose a new mascot: the Tyee Titans. Since then a committee of students and staff has been visualizing what the Tyee Titan represents and looks like.
We asked students what they envisioned for the Tyee Titans and what ideas they’d like to see represented. We heard the Titans were strong, brave and kind. Students see the Titan as a protector. Students shared that they wanted everyone to be able to connect to the mascot—that it be inclusive of all genders and races.
Today we are excited to share our new logo with our school community.
Our colors remain the same, a bright red and gold to honor our past and our community of alumni. Our new logo features a shield to represent protection. The shape harkens back to the crest in our previous logo. The lightning bolt represents strength and power and connects us to the land. The shield is framed in a ribbon of Ts.
In the next few days, you’ll begin to see our new Tyee Titan logo on our website, social media and letterhead and next year on our campus and on our spiritwear. Our previous mascot, the Totem, will be retired at a community event to be scheduled this summer. The Highline Heritage Museum intends to accept many Totem items on long-term loan as part of their school district historical display.
Thank you to all staff, students, and community members who were involved in the process.
